One of the first things people ask me when they hear I’m studying to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist is,
“So, what should I eat?!”
While I can’t give personalized advice without knowing your full health picture, I can share what fuels my body and helps me feel my best.
The number one thing I recommend is Yogurt Bowls! Packed with probiotics (learn more from my last blog post), yogurt is a superfood, offering a blend of nutrients that promote gut health, boost immunity, and support overall wellness. Best of all, yogurt bowls are incredibly versatile and easy to throw together.
Whether you’re adding vitamins, fiber, or healthy fats to your bowl, each ingredient brings its own benefits. Let’s break down what each of these nutrient-packed toppings can do for you:
🫐Vitamins and Minerals
Add essential nutrients and natural sweetness:
- Berries – Full of vitamin C for immune health
- Bananas – A source of potassium for heart health
- Kiwi – Rich in vitamin C and antioxidants for digestion
- Mango – High in vitamins A and C for vision and immunity
🌾Fiber
Helps with digestion, keeps you full, and supports gut health:
- Granola – Choose whole-grain, low-sugar varieties
- Chia Seeds – Fiber-rich and omega-3 packed
- Flaxseeds – Support digestion and reduce inflammation
🥑Healthy Fats
Essential for heart, brain, and skin health:
- Nuts (almonds, walnuts, cashews) – Healthy fats, protein, and magnesium
- Seeds (pumpkin, hemp, sunflower) – Add omega-3s, fiber, and skin-loving nutrients
My Go-To Yogurt Bowl Recipe
A simple base I love—with toppings I switch up each week:
- 1 cup low-fat plain Greek yogurt
- 1–2 tsp honey or maple syrup
- Sprinkle of cinnamon
- 1 Tbsp Optifiber (optional)
- Scoop of chia seed pudding
- Fresh fruit (this week: mango, strawberry, kiwi)
- ¼ cup homemade granola (I use Cookie and Kate’s recipe)
- 1 Tbsp pure peanut butter (just peanuts!)
- A few chocolate chips
How to Make It:
Stir yogurt, sweetener, cinnamon, and fiber supplement together. Mix in chia pudding. Add fruit, granola, peanut butter, and chocolate chips on top.
That’s it!
A yogurt bowl is one of the easiest ways to eat well and enjoy it. Don’t overthink it—just mix and match what you love to build a bowl that makes you feel great.
