The organization takes a hands-on approach, facilitating robust relationships among corporations, organizations, schools, and others so that when excess food is available, they know who to call to get it into the hands of the people who need it most. The EPA estimated that in 2019, about 66 tons of food was wasted in the US with at least 60% of this going into landfills. F4 harnesses the growing desire of so many to intervene locally, supporting neighbors while saving the environment and reducing waste.

“We are deeply grateful for this generous grant which will enable us to invest in the community by providing an innovative service that is critical to solving food insecurity,” said Derek Fiorenza, Founder of Fiorenza’s Food for Friends.

In addition to Food Rescue and Food Drives, F4 hosts the annual West Chester Chili Cook-Off. This event will be held on October 11, 2026, and will feature local chefs, businesses, and organizations competing to create the best chili while supporting a vital cause. Not only does the event shine a light on issues of food insecurity in our region, but it gives attendees an opportunity to sample delicious chili, support local food pantries by donating nonperishable items, meet community organizations sharing their important services, and learn more about F4’s mission and impact.
