One person can make a difference.

Derek Fiorenza has demonstrated that over the past four years.

The 23-year-old Downingtown resident’s charity, Fiorenza’s Food for Friends, started by providing 25 meals at a homeless shelter in Coatesville in 2007.

On Sunday, the nonprofit group served more than 1,500 meals at 14 homeless shelters in nine Pennsylvania counties.

Three of those shelters are in Reading: Opportunity House, Mary’s Shelter and Hope Rescue Mission.
